Those are actually the first ones I found. THey are for charting. Maybe you can take parts from different ones you find and make it battery operated.
I don't know enough about anything to know how to do that, but I am willing to pay someone if they can figure it out.

 
I dont' quite understand, you don't want it to use ink at all correct, just burn the paper essentially?

If this is the case it shouldn't be too hard to make something. Think of a flashlight and that sort of switch setup where you can open and close a circuit. Now the only thing is that you want heat generated, so create a circuit using thin copper wire...when it closes it should heat up if I'm not mistaken, then you could "write" with it and open the circut again when you're done.

If this is not what you mean, excuse this idea.

That is exactly what I am looking for. It can be up to probably 1/16" thick. It can still be somewhat hot after use.

 
To add to that, how about one of the newer style "cold" soldering irons that are advertised on tv?
I tried to order one of those. They don't work very well. It is hard to kind of manipoulate them and plus they get way too hot and catch the paper on fire.
