I am willing to give $5 payapl to anyone who can find a vendor for thermal pens. Many places have thermal paper for reciept paper. Where I work, occasionally we have the need to write on these receipts. Using regular pen doesn't work very well because it rubs off very easily. Using a pencil has similar problems. It does not have to use ink as a secondary function, it must run off batteries. If you are able to develop such a device, please PM me and we can work out some type of a deal.

Sorry for the OT reply, but people still use thermal paper? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

That's about as silly as using A/S 400's...wait a minute, those are still in use...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Check out the reciept paper at Lowe's / HD / wal-mart. It's all thermal paper. I could have it labeled wrong but that is what it is called on the side of the box.

Thermal paper is used for a ton of things still, it's very durable and resistant to smears/smudges. We use it for barcoding packages.

I'm not sure what we use to write on the labels, probably fine point Sharpies though. The labels are printed automatically as the containers are filled with all info needed, so no reason to write on them really. I can walk over to that department if I have time, but headed out of town tomorrow morning so I have to load up some equipment in a few.

I have one, you want it?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

But do you have anything to write on it?
I just brought a label to my office, started playing with my different types of pens and realized that it's not true thermal paper, our printers are thermal transfer which means the printer uses heat to transfer the ink from a ribbon instead of heating the paper to make and image. Sorry for the confusion. Basically any ink works great on these labels.

Sharpies can be removed with rubbing alcohol and other types of solvents. We have used a paper clip heated by a cigarette lighter but I was looking for something more professional.

Can the ink be washed or rubbed off. If you rub the ink, does it smear. Our labels on the shelf are like that.

I am thinking I need to invent it but I don't know how. I already called evey paper/office supply store in 3 states trying to find one. A few people said I was an idiot. I also e-mailed bic and pentel but they said there is no demand for such an item. I have experimented with catheter pens, but they get too hot. I need something around 120-150 degrees.
