He's not BSing, Jacobs Sverdrup is also a DoD contractor. I know the engineers make good money....I work in finance.Aerospace Engineering here. Junior, 20 hours left. I've been co-oping (like internship, but you switch out school semesters and work semesters alternatively) with Jacobs Sverdrup, a contractor for NASA. I work with multiple contractors all at Marshall Space Center and NASA employees. It's kind of fun, but at the same time boring. We're (well, I'm not there this semester, but they=my group) working on requirements right now for the CLV which will be replacing the Shuttle. Next semester I'm supposed to be working on the Upper Stage engine and they supposedly will have prototypes ready by the time I return.
as for the OP. I got a degree in finance and graduated #1 in my class. I don't like sales and don't really want to start my own buisiness. Most of the types of jobs you can look for is a) retail ( Store managers @ Lowe's make ~100k after/ if they bonus) and the analytical stuff like I do. My work = ghey.
I wouldn't know if finance has more or less math than engineering (especially when you get into financial engineering they probably will be close), but I would think we have more of what you would call calculator math and all you have to know is the operations of the calculator. The work is easy or hard, depending on how your mind works. I am have a Political Science minor. It is worthless unless going into law, which I may one day.
