Enclosure tips

I am trying to build a new subwoofer box for some ten inch subs I had lying around. I don't expect to win any competitions with them, however, I would like to get as much output out of them as possible. I will be using aero ports, fiberglassing the inside and bracing if needed. I also thought about incorporating the golden ratio. I was just wondering if anyone had any more tips for a solid build. Any input is appreciated.

I thought about the double baffle but the subs are rather light weigh roughly 15 pounds only. I am definately going to put in angle pieces, but I recently saw a few enclosures with some type of bondo or fiberglass instead on wood angle pieces.

Realistically a 10" sub won't probably be generating that much pressure to warrant some of the "overkill"...Only if you are competing and want every last .1 db would you "need" to do all that....

In my experience a solidly glued and braced box with enough port area is the base you need...

Why don't you start with that and then add these other tips if you're still not satisfied?

In my mind it doesn't make sense to go all out unless you are competing and/or have lots of time and love to tinker with it...

The major drawback of adding all these tips in at once is you don't know what helps or hinders the performance for your setup....

See my comments about my 12" box in this post:

Aero ports are good

Fibreglassing the inside normally isn't needed, bracing would veild more results for less work/expense, though rolling some fibreglass resin around the inside to make sure all the joins are sealed is a good plan.

Golden ratio dimentions aren't needed for subs since the wave lenghts involved are too long for standing waves to form.
