any one have a set up where it just looks like a box in your trunk. i want this for a couple reasons. one would be that no one could steal the subs if they are not exposed. another is most of my friends are dumb and just throw there skateboards in the trunk or backpacks. one of my old subs got cracked becasue of this but i dident care much because i payed $50 for them. well now i have nice subs i want to protect. so can any one help me out.

dont mean to thread jack but how much clearance should you have from the sub and the floor?

guess its not really a thread jack since its probably something he would need to know.

i think hes mostly trying to prevent damage. not so much as the thief taking the time to unscrew them but maybe if he doesnt see them he wont notice they are there?

Too close can have an effect similar to raising enclosure Q. Like a too small sealed box. It can sound a little more boomy and may peak output and also increase mechanical power handling but also negatively affect sound quality and affect low end output. Personally I would angle the subs downward (and slightly outward) instead of firing them straight into the floor.

output could be affected, but sound really shouldnt change much if at all. i probably should have been a bit more specific, to a certain extent a downfiring box could act as a bandpass box if the clearances are close enough...

i dont like the idea of a bandpass box i heard they only sound good at the frequency they are build to. but i guess it is the only option. any one have any pics of there boxes
