he wanted a ported box with a really flat freq response
and that is what he got..
1.5" thick on all pannels including the port..the port
slightly expands over the 36" length
and there is less than 4% port velosity
the end result is 0% box flex and 0% port noise
I took the Daily Driver design enclosure down to the local
Audio Shop and compared it side by side with their top of the
line Bassworx and Q logic boxes
we used a Soundstream 12" sub in each box..
same sub,same amp,same source unit....
the only changing factor was the enclosure..
the top end Bassworx was their best sounding enclosure
the sub sounded ok at moderate levels but it sounded
muffled when it was pushed to the max and the output
was very poor..the bass detail was really low
the port noise was almost un bearable to myself
the sub in the Daily Driver sounded like a completely different
sub...it was tight and sounded really detailed...the bass was really
deep and the low end extension was quite impressive for
a low level sub..it also HIT like a mother..making a nice THUD at the end
of each hard note..and no port noise even with the rough textured port
when all said and done the whole shop was standing there listening
to the sub saying WOW what a difference
anyways Crown Electronics now has the Daily Driver Enclosure
in their showroom hooked up to the Premeir/Soundstream demo
board and they want me to do the install in the Soundstream Demo Vehicle
I have been working on this design for a while now and it has paid off
I now have a full Soundstream system on the way and I have a little import
pick up that is getting a blow thru..
it's gonna be a fun build and I will be posting pics along the way
