Enclosure Recommendations

I'm interested in building a vented enclosure for my IDQ 12. I found a link that calculates dimensions for you. I was wondering if it is better to use the sub manufacturers recommendations for size and tuning frequency, or to plug in the subs specs and let the program do the work?

Is anyone here familiar with this program... or this sub?

I'm trying to achieve a little more output, but give up little, to nothing in sound quality.

always good to but depends on the subs. kicker subs tend to like bigger boxes than recommended. not really sure about the IDQ though.
