Enclosure Reccomendation - Kicker Comp C12

Hello all, I just picked up a Kicker Comp C12 Subwoofer and it's in a sub zero ported enclosure I looked it up and its supposed to be somewhere in the 1.5cf tuned to 34 hz I beleive. I think the sub could do with a little more airspace, so I am looking at building a new enclosure for it. I have conflicting views on this from others, some say tune to 35hz cause the sub will not play very low. But I was wanting to tune it down to say 28hz so I can get the best SQ possible and have it play as low as possible. What do you guys think? I was thinking somewhere around 2.36cf at 28 hz.

I made a box for one that was ~2ft^3 at 32-33hz and it did well. I'm not sure how well it'll do in a big box tuned that low. Seems like it wouldn't have the motor strength to perform well in that scenario.

Thank you for the reply, I know kicker recommends 3.5 Cf in a sealed box so I though 2.36 at 28 would be a good choice. Maybe 2.5 Tuned a little higher like 34-35?

My recommendation is put it in one of those big blue things you see behind buildings..........Dumpster!!! Put it in the dumpster and find a different sub. I've owned the c10 and it was terrible so i'm just taking a stab in the dark and saying the 12" is trash too. so do what i do with trash , carry it out to the dumpster. LOL.

u can get decent sound out of kicker subs don't listen to him. If it's what you can afford then it's what u got. I'd say 2.5 tuned to 35ish

Okay I built a 2.36 cf box tuned to 32 hz it plays nice and low sounds really good, not enough output though I think eventually I will have to swap that out for a 12" Type R lol. Thank you all for the input.
