Enclosure question.

Would have a vented, sealed, bandpass, or even an inverted wedge design change how an amplifier sends power to the speaker, physically? Like, less amp gain, dependent on the install? Would one box with the same sub, same wiring, same amp same everything, send an amp into clipping, whereas a different box would be fine, at the same setting?

go with a tuned ported enclosure

if you have any skillz, or just wanna learn, you can make one yourself rather cheaply. i made my box for 2 sa-12's and all materials combined( including 3/4MDF, titebond 2, screws, and t-nuts and bolts) for $44.

i happen to already have a saw, and a drill though.. took about 5 hours to complete. i think putting carpet on it was the hardest part!!

There are lots of free plans to build upon, or im sure someone would also be willing to help you work out more specified dimensions/tuning.

You can go this route ...if you have a cut sheet for your box ...Lowes will cut the wood for free on a big panel saw up to a couple of cuts...you can get birch or mdf there 3/4 sheet...then they charge .50 cents a cut after...but the sign says it may be a little off...what I do is tip the cutting guy an extra $20 to be very careful because they are only making min wage anyway and they are more than happy to help out....ive had many boxes built this way and everything goes together perfect....after i learned this

Very true. A cutsheet is indeed required regardless. i was able to use google sketchep to ensure all pieces would fit on one sheet.

Also, the free box plans i had in mind was posted by jeff in post #6

go to home depot, have them make all the cuts for you. Take home, glue and screw. Have a relative or friend with a jigsaw cut the hole for you. Viola you are done.
here are some free designs

What would I need to bring to home depot/lowes or wherever I get the cutting done, the entire sheet for the box?

Just give them the cut sheet and they will dj the cutting. Buy the mdf or ***** there and have them cut it that same day.

okay so on your end, you have 48 x 96 inches. You'll be playing tetris planning on whats the best course to cut your wood because if you run into an employee that is not so skilled at planning efficient cuts, you'll have to be the one calling the shots.
