It's almost always better to have more power on tap so that you can give it a constant 200w clean power at low gain without stressing out the amp. You wouldn't want an amp that can only handle 200w at most because the amp will get hot easily and more than likely lead to a clipped signal (dirty signal), which can lead to amp failure or a blown sub possibly. Just because it's rated at 500w@4ohm, doesn't mean you have to use it all. You can use a digital multimeter to set your gains to 200w with no problems. Nothing wrong with overpowering a sub as there is box rise to consider and the fact that music is dynamic. Power will fluctuate as you play each note. Very rarely are you ever getting full power out of the amp anyway unless you're playing constant test tones.

I'm a fan of old school rockford amps but not the new ones because they're made in china now and the quality build isn't as good as it used to be. Nonetheless that is a good price and would suit your needs probably. I would go for the 500w amp if it were me though just in case you wanna upgrade to more a powerful sub in the future. Just a thought. Old school rockford is very solid and underrated for sure.

Hop on that JBL amp asap. Learn how to set gains with a digital multi-meter and that sub will never see more than 200 watts if set it properly with a dmm. Leaves room to upgrade subs later.

As said before, an amp sitting on it's @ss barely doing any work will live longer than an amp thats constantly pushed to the limit.

taco tunes is expensive as f... there's better ways of doing it. Or even have a member on here make you a plate.
