Just joined the site a few days ago and have been spending all of my free time reading and reading and reading. I have checked out the "Underground" audio websites and I am still at a toss up of which subs/amp to go with. I would like to do one 15" sub. I would say my price range on a sub is $500 max. HU is a KDC-X996 followed by two Audio Control Overdrive Plus. One is heading to a Kenwood Excelon x600f supplying juice for two sets of Boston Acoustic SR60's the other is just waiting to be followed by a monoblock and 15. I'm looking for balanced sound. I don't want the sub to overpower the mids and highs or the other way around. I'm willing to do a nice 12" if you think a 15" would be too much. I mainly listen to Dubstep and Metal/Alternative. Help me out guys.

I'd go with that 2 12 Skar VVX's and enclosure for 380 bucks. It would've fit in my '99 Monte Carlo trunk and I'm pretty sure the Impala is bigger... I just think it's a helluva deal.

Well...I'm willing to give up most of it, lol. Only room I need is for my two amps and audio drivers. Do you think two 12's would over throw my components? I have never ran more than one sub in any vehicle I have owned. I love bass I just don't care for TOO much of it. I don't want to add an additional battery. As far as power goes....I was thinking about a 500w Rms 15. I'm not looking to compete just to please my ears. If these underground audio companies make better clarity components I am willing to try them. I just always stuck with the more popular components. I would say that sound quality is my biggest concern. Although I do like it loud! I keep looking at the AudioQue subs and amps for some reason. Are there better out there in this price range?

I have 2 15's im looking to sell

first one is a cadence beastmaster 15 its brand new in the box, was one of the last subs cadence built entirely in the us. You cant really find us made subs anymore. Its retail price back in 2004 was 699 bucks, im letting it go for 200. yes thats shipped and still in its retail box, need money to fix my car 1500rms d2

the second is a custom made sub built by splaudio ont hese forums. It was custom made and is rated at 1500rms and was designed for a sealed box. it was built with the famous tc sounds tc9 motor which was found on the soundsplinter rlp and old orion hcca subs and its also a d2

I'm curious to know why you don't suggest 15" woofers? From what I see most 15-18" woofers are rated for lower frequencies. Being I have trunk space I don't see a reason not to. I am also here to learn so please enlighten me!

You've got the room for 2 12"s - and done correctly, they'll probably sound a bit more accurate than a 15"/18" subwoofer.

Personally, I also like single-15" setups, but these guys know their stuff. Given, that you're talking to the right people. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i would do 2 12's or even 2 tens with $500 and get nicer 10's and a nice amp.

image dynamics idq's 10's or 12's

2x SSA DCON 12's, can take 600rms daily and they get loud in ported box

look around for an amp, itll take some time but your going to be able to find one that does around 1000rms@2ohms and youll be set to upgrade your system when you want, look around on the classifieds for one, dont go with audiopipe, haha. sundown has nice amps and i think the saz 1500 will get you enough rms. you probably wont need to upgrade anything besides the big 3, which really isnt that much of a hassle.

you could also look at dc level 2's 12's or maybe you could do 1 ssa icon 15in if you want in a ported box, my friend has one, it gets down there. i wouls do 2x 10's personally, you want sq but loudness, 2x 10's would be the best of both worlds and i think you will be very pleased going this way, and the brand i said above, are more for sq, look at dayton audio hf or ho series, people are really liking them on the forum and im about to get some to try out. let me know what you think

I would get the 2 Skar 12" with box package for 380$ , would bang hard in that 01 impala... I know most of the shops here thought I had 2 12"s with the single Skar in a 4th order.. and was shocked at how low and clean it was
