I bought a sealed box from subzone thats 1.2cu.ft. The ED specs on their site say to use a box that is 1cu.ft. so i figure with the sub volume displacement it will be around 1 cu.ft.

Is there something wrong with using a prefab box?

Nothing other than spending 50 buckes on it. Also what impendance is that sub? Sorry I see it is 2 ohms. Why not a jbl 1200.1? You could wire it to 4 ohms for 600 watts. Later on you when you get another you could wire it to 2ohm's and get 1200+//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif. Plus the JBL can be had for 275.

No, there are some that are built out of a 'flimsy' matereal...with that much power you could cause a leak or worse explode(k mabe a lil over exageration(sp?)) just make sure its biuld out of mdf (medium density fiderboard...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

meh waste 50 on the box waste 275 on the amp it's all the same:-d.

I think the JBL is way overpriced for this situation then.. I would NEVER run one of those things at 1 ohm. And there are many other amps out there that do much better at 4 ohms. Like the Tantrum. Get that thing, you will be happy. Shop around you can get one for under $300. I did once..
