Elec issues: need advice

I have a few weird issues.

Equipment:

Pioneer DEH6800MP

JBL 180.2

Polk db 6.5 coax's

voltage is at 13.6-13.9 constant when driving

First... i installed a jbl 180.2 for my fronts. It has been hooked up for months. I decided to try my fronts off my deck yesturday to find out... they are as loud if not louder off of the deck. Settings are completely the same. I had the jbl on half gain and it still wasn't quite as loud.

I've tried an orion 1200d, PG xenon 600.1, mtx 1501d and they all seem to need to have the gain on 3/4 or more to do decent power. However, a kicker zx750.1 doesn't need the gain past 1/3 to do its power.

I have set my gain with a dmm and the gain doesn't need to be up that high to reach the voltage, but it isn't loud at all.

What are some ways to check my entire elec with a dmm?

Set your gains correctly?

Rail voltage will drop once you put a dynamic load on it.

i have set my gain correctly. with a 1501d on an infinity reference. Moves it good but not what you would expect. MY concept amp put out more power with the gain set correctly.

How do you check the pre-out voltage with a dmm?

Test tone, volume up, test voltage between the center conductor and the barrel.

i only get like .002 on the dmm... ?
