Eights

Sorry you heard wrong. TC2's are perfectly fine to port.
In fact 2 of them ported on 800-1200 watts is very very loud;)

9. Why don't you recommend vented enclsoures for the RL-i series?

Simply stated, because the Premium series is geared better for the job. The RL-i Series is certainly capable of being used in a vented application, however ported enclosures cause the driver(s) to absorb more power from the amplifier, thus the risk of thermal failure is greater on the RL-i's 2" voicecoil with respect to the RL-p's 3" voicecoil. The RL-i's Qt parameter is also not optimal for vented enclosures, optimal being a Qt of 0.4 or less. If you are a responsible listener however, you should have no problem implementing a vented design for the RL-i Series and may use the following guidelines. Please remember that burned voicecoils are not covered under warranty and one should not use more than 300wrms on a ported RL-i series driver.

RL-i10: 1.8 - 2.5 ft3 tuned to 25 Hz with a 4" x 20" long vent.

RL-i12: 3 ft3 tuned to 22 Hz with a 4" x 20" long vent.

from the SS site....

I was recomended personally by Mike the owner of SS to port my RL-i 8

Stop digging your hole deeper. No where in that statement does it say they were not built for ported enclosures. Would you like to know what it says?

It says that people are stupid, and if you have stupid people porting their RL-i8's, they will over power them looking for output and destroy them.

You can't sit and try to fight your case with somone who has ported them with great results;)

Just telling him what i read.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Sometimes companies need to state things that way so silly newbies don't buy their equipment and blow them up and complain and want their money back. The way I see it is that he is trying to avoid user error.

No where did i say that he should not port his box...

I just told him that i read, that they were build with non ported in mind.

And nowhere an i "trying to fight my case" just showing him what i read....

Cool, like i said, just showing him what i read so he can have that info....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Hey if you look at SS site hey does give specs for ported RL-i. I was also told to get the most out of my 8s to port them and this again was from the man him self-Mike.

The RL-i are great subs if you pick them you will be happy with them.

I saw that it can run in as little as .2 cuft....

to be sure this is after displacement?

Yes, unless you want a box with negative volume...
So what is the dispacement size of the sub, or what whill i need the voulme to be to achive the .2, or close to, cuft?

The reason i ask is i need the least amount of space taken up in the cargo area.

Is there another sub that you would recomend besides the SS?
