effecient 8-10 on 150 watts for wife's Mustang hatch

Wife has a Mustang hatch with a single four channel amp that runs the front doors with two channels and bridged rear channels run the sub with 150w@4ohms. Looking for something that will work in .75 cubes or less and have decent extension... don't need huge Xmax, but would like something that does extend down well and isn't power hungry. Would like to stay under $100, currently have an old single JL 10W4 in .75 cubes in there... probably overkill, but it was the only spare 10 I had. I thought about Dayton Audio, which would be at the top end of my price range.

This may sound like a generic solution to most,

but what about a Kicker Comp or Comp VT?

they both have decent output at 150 watts, but probably won't satisfy your really low notes as well as other drivers might in the same size box.

Extension is very important to me...it's my wife's car, but I drive it regularly and am the one that will be the most critical of it. They Dayton I was looking at would end up with a Qtc or around .85 and F3 in the mid 40's. There would be a less than 1db hump around 51Hz...

That driver is designed for dipole use... notice the .76 Qtc? Heavily damped driver, would take a large sealed box for car use, or would work well for IB use

OP is pretty much violating the golden rule.

You can have two of the following three things:

1) Low Frequency Extension

2) Small Box Size

3) Effeciency

Very familar with the golden rule... and you can't break it, but you can blend the three together to get a good mix! And is .75 sealed really that small these days for a 8 or 10 inch driver? I see quite a few 10 inch drivers these days that can do a .7 Qtc with an F3 around 50Hz in this size enclosure. Just looking for the suggestions from others who have tried drivers in this senario!

BTW, the 10W4 actually sounds pretty nice in this situation, but mine is a D4 and the amp will not do 2ohms mono, so I am stuck with only 100 watts on it. Something similar, in single 4 ohm, and with at least as good or better effeciency, would suffice. I could probably give up some of the mass and excursion of the W4 in exchange for effeciency... a W0 probably would have worked just as well or better. I consider the RE drivers a modern equivelant...

True true. You're right .75^3 isn't so small these days. Dang, wish I could help ya with some more suggestions. That four channel amp/dvc sub are a real road block!

I am thinking of an RE SE10 or SR10... looks like the numbers work out well for what I am trying to do.

If you get an SR10 you can consider porting the box for additional output and still having a nice f3.

Those things do pretty good in as little as .5^3 sealed too when they get that rated 300!

I Heard one pushing 400rms in a .75^3 (.63^3 ft net. the sr10 has about .12 displacement i think) and it was pretty nice.
