Eff my life...

Ok well i charged the battery. It sits at 12.9. I think that it must be the belt slipping on the new one. It sat at 14.7-8 at first and then it dropped as low as 12.0 but then went straight back up when i gave it gas. So you guys think the belt is slipping?

good job //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif told ya it wasnt the battery //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ok tried a new belt. It didnt do anything. Its gotta be the alternator. Which really pisses me off. It charges, but only at 2k rpms and up.

I dont think its the battery. Its really aggravating tho

if the belt is tight and it is charging at higher rpms then the regulator inside the alt is bad, warranty it out. it should put out at least 13.6 volts minimum at idle with nothing electrical in the car on. make them test it on your car not the bench tester it spins them at 2k rpm ++ and so it will always pass. I am a retired 22 yr ase tech trust me they will try to screw you like that.

Yea, so when he rebuilt my alt then he should checked this tho should have he? So if it is the regulator then how much will it cost to repair? I just spent 175 on a rewound alt, was this a waste then?

just take it back to him and tell him it doesnt charge at idle he should fix it free. otherwise have them refund it. and buy a db electric.

when they "rebuild" 1 they should replace all those parts with upgraded 1's anyway.

Ive been to there website. Ill bring it in tuesday. The guy is a great guy. Everybody has had nothing bad to say about him. I bet he just didnt realize that the regulator was bad.

was the new belt the same size? if it is then it still will most likely slip. is there any black powder inside the alternator and around it? look close a little means a lot of slip. the tensioner has little marks on it to see if it is in range take a look at it I bet the same size belt is to big. That guy who rebuilt it tested it before he sold it to you I bet and they tested it at the store you went to also right? get the right size belt or a bigger idle pulley. All signs point to loose belt from my view. I was never happy with my dbelectrical one just a rebuild but more expensive and they lied on the output. I had to shim my alternator with some washers because the next size belt was to small but when tight it works great.
