Eclipse's amplifiers

ive heard bad things about them heating up and going into protect fairly easily but it was from a shop that didnt sell them sooooo who knows... i think they're probly very solid amps but they're just hella exspensive....consider it like JL Audio amps....they're quality and all, but are they worth the big $$$?
ohhhh, i get the picture! i won't think it would be worth it then!! imma stick with eDesign! thx

We've ran that amp on our demo board all day long, mostly loaded down to 2ohms, and it is always cool to the touch. It runs considerably cooler then our RoFo powers and the JL slash series. And personally, mine runs a 12 Ti at 2 ohms all day and it runs ice cold to the touch. Infact my 4 channel A/B amp runs quite a bit warmer.

And they are not hella expensive compared to JL amps, unless you think a $799retail Eclipse is hella expensive compared to a $999 retail JL slash.

it is really tempting going with the DA7122... how much is it worth, whats the top price would you pay for it?

What is it worth, depends on how much you are willing to spend. I will tell you that it retails for $799 but if you want to chance it, it can be had for about $350-$400 on Ebay. I strongly encourage anyone to buy products from authorised retailers for warranty purposes, atleast if you feel that is important to you.

He didn't say they were hella expensive compared to JL....he said they were hella expensive like JL.

You can find them on ebay brand new for around $450.....they go used for less than that. I'd still rather run a used DA7122 than a brand new eD Nine.1

gee!! 799$ retailll!!!! wowwww! for sure if im gettin' one its gonna be on ebay:D !

I should go with a new DA7122 or even used over an brand new NINe.1? explain plzz!!

There are many EDuh haters around these parts...and I'm one of them. I mostly have a lack of respect for the owner of the company, rather than the products. I have never owned one of their amps, but they seem to be a good choice if you are on a budget. They warranty their products for 3 years too, which is nice. I just choose not to give my hard earned $$$ to the company, that's all.

Man I wish a 34230 would fit under my seat....that is a great amp right there. I've owned 3-4 Eclipse amps over the years and they have been some of my favorites. They run cold as ice, produce a nice transparent sound, and have probably one the best performance/price ratio's in the industry IMO. I'd take an Eclipse amp over a JL any ole day of the week.

Also look into the DA6123 which does 250x2 @ 4 or 500x2 @2 (i think).

The new class D's look to be promising....I payed around with the EA4000 a bit and I liked the top mounted controls...plus they are sexy as hell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

depends on how much value you place on quality.

The 34230 amp was killer. The DA6213 was a pretty sweet amp also, very efficient and powerful full range class D amp. I am also very excited about the new XA full range class D amps for that reason. I just spoke to my rep and he told me that Bang & Olufsen; the company who supplies Eclipse with their class D amplification modules, are finishing up their work soon. So we should hopefully see those amps on the market soon.

Sweet...is that the same company that sells the fancy headphones at the mall? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif BTW, I noticed you are in Duluth, who is the dealer in your parts? Just curious. Thanks.

They really do look good! And they seem more of quality than the eDesign anyways...I've always loved eclipse!

Anyone know if 950x1rms @2ohm is measured at 12 or 14.4volt?

btw thx for all the inputs every1

Yeah, the local Eclispe dealer is me!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I work at Auto Audio. Just opened in September in Duluth. We have been in Superior for 13 years though. We also sell Diamond, JL, and RoFo to name a few.

That's at 14.4 @ 1.0% THD.....you will get rated power out of it all day, everday...but not more.
03 Literature says at 13.8V - 1000Wrms X 1 @ 2 ohms w/ .007% THD.

04 Literature says at 13.8V - 950Wrms X 1 @ 2 ohms w/

05-06 Literature says at 14.4V - 950Wrms X 1 @ 2 ohms w/

^ I suppose probably due to CEA2006 compliance.

I seen a graph that Eclipse sent us in 02 when they released the DA7232 & DA7122 that should it's power output versus THD @ 2,4,8,16 and open loads. The trace stayed will below 1% at all 5 load conditions even when producing roughly 1400Wrms and stayed lower than 10% at all 5 loads at 2000 Wrms untill about 1Khz. Thats how they derived that max output rating of 2KW X 1 @ 2ohms with 10% distortion. No idea what the supply voltage was for testing though.
