Eclipse XA1000 Amp Question

My car is currently wired up to take an 8 gauge amp and the only I keep looking at is the old Eclipse mono block. The specs I keep reading mention 4 gauge wiring needed, but at most, the cabling in my car is at most 7 feet. Is it OK to use my current wiring or would I need to upgrade to 4 gauge?

so you have 8 gauge power wire and it is 7ft long from the battery to where your amp will be hooked up at?

I would upgrade it to 4 gauge power wire for two reasons 1) it would be cheap to buy since its only 7 ft long. 2) b/c it is a nice stout amp and will be useful.

However since it is only 7 ft long I dont think it would be exactly bad to use the 8 gauge as that is a short run.

i have 2 of those amps and they only have 2 20 amp fuses in them so 8 gauge wire is plenty. they keep mentioning the 4 gauge as the amp will accept up to that size. now if you said your thinkin of getting one i do have one for sale //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
