Whether it be a theory or not ,3 dec is suppose to be the added composure. 3 dec may not seem like a lot but it is relatively a bump. That is a nice truck by the way.

I don't know what kind of problems people have been having with eclipse, but I have owned three eclipse amps and they all kicked butt. The reason I would stick with the first set up is the focal door speakers. Eclipse sound great,(I am running point source right now) but the focal are in a league of their own. Be careful with the JL subs, if you overpower them they blow way easy. I've owned JL W3's, W6's, eclipse sub, and kicker. The eclipse was a lower model but the sound quality was amazing. Eclipse amps did well in the reviews, this was a few yrs back of course. I would expect them to still hold up. Granted there are much better amps, but I think they are far from crap.

I still can't believe I have my eclipse Alum woofer after 5yrs.
