rockford woofers recommedation

I have an 86Gt Mustang and I will be installing a Rockford 301M amp with an Rt box enclosure that holds two tens inch woofers. I want to know what 10" woofers will be the best fitment for the amp that I bougt. There is a guy I asked that sells audio stuff and he told me to buy the Rockford RFZ3810. But what the hell is the difference in dual voice coil or single voice coil? Better yet what the hell is the difference between 4ohms and 8ohms? Need help ASAP thanks and sorry for the stupid ?'s

hey and welcome to the board,

ok, if you are set on Rockford subs, that model would be fine, if you want you could look at one stop up from the the HX2's, they are fairly cheap on the net some where, I cant remember but someone on here knows, but the difference in voice coils (as simple as I can describe it) is that a single voice coil is the only connection that carries the apmlified signal, and a Dual VC is a sub that gives the user more options to wire up the sub, meaning if you have a single voice coil 4 ohm, it can only be wired up as a 4 ohm load to the amp, were as the dual voice coil that is dual 4 ohm can be wired up as 2 ohm or 8 ohm, there is series and parallel wiring, it is 2 different ways to run the speaker wire between the postive and negative termanals,

the difference in 4 ohms and 8 ohms is that the 4 ohm sub puts twice the ohm load on the amplifer, so the the amp has to work twice as hard to push it, with is not a bad thing in most cases, may amps are set up to run at lower ohm loads, I hope this helps some

good luck

If you're not going to be running a lot of power (i.e. 1000 watts) I would use the 10W3's. They still have the sound quality JL audio has been known for, just be careful not to overpower them. With DVC, lets say the power from the amp is the fuel and the voice coil is the engine for the speaker. When you have dual voice coils its like having two engines in a sense. They are intertwined to help move the speaker. Plus like he said it will give you more wiring options. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smokin.gif.f1dc8d2acb1809e863ebd6a47eaa0d45.gif
