Eclipse Subs

I noticed an Eclipse sub in the classifieds that's based on a TC design. I have a few questions about that.

1. Which Eclipse models were/are based on TC designs?

2. Does Eclipse still use this design?

3. Are there any good Eclipse subs that aren't based on a TC design?

I've never heard a TC or Eclipse sub, so I feel like I'm missing out on something...

the eclipse alum, ti's, and ti pros were all oem'd by TC

they even put out some lms coiled drivers for eclipse, but I am not familiar with them.

the majority of the better eclipse subs from '03ish were made by TC

IIRC anything that is the 8000 series or higher is TC built. They used variations from TC-7, TC-9, and 3hp motors, might have been a few others but nothing I know of. I'm pretty sure the 10" 8000 and 12" 8200 had LMT coils.

Does that include the current SW8000

and SW8210

The first driver pictured is the SW8200 and is indeed a TC design. It is an LMS driver.
Hmm, must be an error on woofersetc's part, because that's where the model # came from.

Oh well, it really doesn't matter. I think I'm going to give a pair of these a listen. I'll be doing a large build sometime before the end of the year, and I want to use equipment that most people in the area aren't aware of. I'll be auditioning a lot of equipment within the next 4 or 5 months...

Yeah, sorry. I wasn't trying to correct or anything, I just noticed that the driver that was actually pictured was the SW8200. They're the same other than one being a 10" (SW8000) and the other a 12"(SW8200). I hope it works out for you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No worries, man. Thanks for the info. It's very much appreciated.

You're the guy with the Eclipse and TC subs in the classifieds, right? I assume you're familiar with their performance, so I'm going to ask you something. Do you think 4 Eclipse 12"s would be worthwhile? Or would I be better off running 2 RE XXX or DC Level 4XL 18"s? My next sub setup will be powered by 2 RF T2500-1BDs, so I should be able to power either setup easily. The 4 12"s would only require one amp, so that's a plus, but I'm going for something extraordinary...

Yep, that's me.

Well, I'm no authority on SPL so if that's what you're after you might be better off asking someone else. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif What I do know is that if you're referring to running four of the SW8200 12s then you'd better have tons of airspace available because if memory serves, they need a very large sealed enclosures. Something on the order of 3cu.ft. or more. They're also very demanding on the amplifier and will kill ones not up to the task if you're not careful.

yep they will there was problems with those and the coil leaving the gap or something like that and the impedance would drop and most of the people using these models mainly used a/b amps bridged. meaning the imp would drop below 4ohm load and kill the amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
