I have never heard them in person but I think they are like a sqlsub,a lil pricey too,u could most likely find something that will hang with that for better money.

good all around sub. the essentialy replaced the sw8800 series aluminums. they sound very nice and accurate in small to medium sized sealed boxes and is fairly efficient. swing buy a local Eclipse dealer and demo one if you can, you won't be dissapointed.

I ran that sub for a while and really liked it. It's pretty accurate and can take a decent amount of power too. The cone on the Alum's move very fast.....I almost felt as though the sub was vibrating sometimes rather than reproducing the low end. Probably just me though. Compared to what? I sold mine for $125 in excellent condition.

good woofer compareable to alpine type r w/ more sq I would probably chose the type r over these just b.c type r's are cheaper

amazing sq my freind has 3 12"s in a sealed box. Don't know how much power he's giveing them but they sound absoulty amazing best sq setup I've heard they blend in with the music to make your jaw drop and they get decently loud nothing astonishing though.

To the original poster,

What kind of sound are you after, how much power is available, and how much space are you willing to give up for an enclosure? This is a quality sub and is versatile enough to achieve any type of sound you are after, you just have to tinker with enclosure desing a little.

Anyway that is not a bad price considering they retail for $299 at an authorized dealer. However, I always recommend buying from a dealer so you can get the 1 yr warranty through Eclipse.

I absolutely love my Eclipse Aluminums but they are an older 88 series, not sure the changes to the 87 series
