Eclipse or Alpine?

ive heard the eclips alums in a demo vehicle for a stereo shop around here, it was a pt cruiser. anyway they were in a custom fiberglass enclosure, 2 alum 15s both getting a jl 500/1 to them, holy shit they were clean as **** and loud as ****. the guy i know down there said "yeah we hit about 150 dbs before the cd's start skipping then we just switch it to XM so it wont skip". so yeah, 150 db's plus. not bad.

I know a guy whose deck skips at probably around 110 or 120, just a little above regular listening level. It is the biggest POS deck I've ever in my life witnessed. He has a legacy "2000W" amp going to his sub, too... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

lol. see i also call the bluff on the shop saying that they obviously smelled a newbie no offense guy but they did and caught one. if a cd skips at 150db then how to you do a sign wave at 177db and not skip?? hmmmmmm i wonder if the deck has xm capability then it must be half way good.

does anyone know how much spl i will lose by going to the 1 eclipse..i had my plans for 2 subs but 2 eclipses are just way to expensive for my blood...so 2 type R's are all good..

but eclipse is just soo cool u know??

and don't call me a newbie. i know my shit pretty well. i don't know everything because my entire life doesn't revolve around a ****ing car audio website. taking into consideration i got into car stereo about 8 months ago, with what i know id say im not doing too bad.

7400 is nothing special at all. that was my 2nd h/u was actually the 7300 before i knew what i wanted and all the nice advantages of the 9300 and 940 premier. you've been in it for 8 months that's great i've only been in it since i joined the site about 10 months ago. you think my entire life revolves around here?? HA considering i have 15 semester hours at college, 20+hours a week at work and other crap yeah all my time is spent here. anyway, i still maintain that it will not and i repeat WILL NOT skip at 150db. i dropped my buddy's pair of Kicker L7 12"s in my car today and let it run sine wave after sine wave after sine wave my h/u never skipped a beat. then we put it in his car with a pioneer 4100 and did it skip??? no not one beat listening to last years national db drag cd.

anyway, i went in that thing, we metered it, and sure enough it was skipping at around 150 dbs and when we went to xm, it wouldn't skip anymore and went higher.
