eclipse ipod adaptor question

first off, let me say that after reading all these other posts on here, I think I am really out of my league.. but I can try to explain as best as I can. ok, so basically I have an eclipse cd3000 deck. I got it installed for me at a shop (bad i know) but anyways. I didn't want to get the official ipod adaptor for my deck because I have too much music to try and navigate it through my deck. so I got this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ECLIPSE-13-PIN-DIN-CABLE-TO-RCA-CORD-MP3-106-iPC-iPOD-4_W0QQitemZ290181777666QQihZ019QQcategoryZ3293QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

(its a cord that connects to the cd changer port of my deck.. turns into the red/white rca cables.. then from that it goes to a headphone jack for my ipod)

...in order to be able to control what I listen to on the ipod itself. the problem I have though is when it is connected I put it in AUX mode and I have to put the volume up really high before I can even hear anything, even then the quality is horrible and not loud at all(no bass either). I am thinking its because my speakers are powered only from the deck and only my subs are on my amp. Do you guys think there would be anyway in fixing/ making this work without reworking my whole set up? if you guys need anymore info just ask.. thanks in advance guys!

you should have a little feature called SVC or SCV or some shit like that. its basically a seperate "gain" knob if you will. you need to match the ipod input signal by adjusting the the value (on my cd5000 it goes from like -20 to 15 or something similar. im not sure as i never use it).

you really should pick up the ipc-106 ipod controller for our HU's. once the controller is hooked up, it basically treats the ipod as just a storage device, and all the processing is done onboard by your HU.

by using the little controller you bought its basically just an input of the already ipod processed music.

Make sure that the ipod volume is turned up as well... and you can change the eq setting on the ipod to perhaps fit your music better. If the speakers sound fine with radio or cd's then it obviously isnt your speakers/hu ect... If its not the ipod volume then maybe you have a defective hu...

yeah, but how easy is it to go though all your artists/ albums on your deck? seems like it would be kind of a hastle.

also, doesn't svc just make the volume louder by default? The problem is that when I have the ipod connected and go to the aux mode i don't think the amp is working with it. because there is no bass and the volume has to be almost max to even hear anything.

the ipod volume was up high enough also. whenever I move the volume control on the deck while the ipod is playing it makes a really anoying crackling sound(best way to describe it). when I move the volume when no song is playing it is silent though.

of course the SVC makes it louder. SVC stands for source volume control. it acts as a gain knob. you adjust it so that it the signal from the iPod matches to the signal with the deck (exactly how you use the gain at the amp to match the input of the deck).

i have not used the iPod adapter for the cd5000, but from what everyone has told me it is easy as hell to use. all your controls and options are on the HU screen. artists, play lists, albums etc etc.

i saw the same exact thing on ebay when i was looking for the ipc-106 for my eclipse. that shit is just a half *** way of connecting an ipod to the HU. might as well use the adapter that the HU was designed to use
