Ok.. being as I have a blown perfect (which still somehow sounds real good), I am probably going to ask for a new sub for x-mas.

Money is not an issue beyond 3-400 dollars, but I have some limitations. My amp is 500 watts rms at 4 ohms (maybe more), and I probably don't want to ask for both an amp and a sub, because I will just upgrade my amp after I get some money if necessary. I want to get the best sub possible that won't require any electrical modifications and shit to perform at its best. I have a 100 amp alternator, so I think I would be ok sending 1000 watts or so with a good amp.

I am a sealed kind of guy. SQ and low low end(like my perfect) are what I like, SPL is also a good thing.

Here are the types of subs I am looking at, along with approximate cost:

Eclipse Alum (I hear the ti isnt much better) - $200 shipped

Alumapro Alchemy MX or RX - $220 shipped (MX) $300 shipped (RX)

ED A series - $280-290 shipped

I am leaning towards the Eclipse, because I wouldnt be completely underpowering it, but also kind of want an A-series just in case I really wanted to get serious power going. I know that noone has heard an RX or an A series, but how is this looking? Should I look at the ti's? What would you do with 3-400 bucks for one sub?

i dunno ive heard eclipse is supposed to be good, but im gonna go with the elemental design sub the A im gonna be ordering one of those in the next week or so, u can pre order the sub for 240$ up untill december 15 then itll be back to 295$, so id go with the A

The amount of power you have will not be underpowering the A series in any way. That is plenty of power, in fact that's essentially ideal.

The eclipse is also a very fine driver, I used to own a pair for almost 3 1/2 years...

Do not look at the Ti line, tonal accuracy was not on par with the Aluminum line from my experiences...

I agree with Josh, you will NOT be underpowering the the A with 500 watts, will still perform very well.

I may go with the A, but the alum is really tempting. I could pop an alum 12 right in my 1.25 cube sealed box and be great with 500 watts. Looks cool too, but the A has a big xmax, it also will look cool. I think the A might be a bit too much woofer for me right now. I have some time to decide though. Anyone else wanna weigh in?

No such thing as 'too much', remember this...

You can always turn your gains down if you need to, but if you are already driving a sub past what it can do, and need more... you are SOL.

With the A on preorder, the lower price, the 3 year warranty attached to it, seems to me like a no-brainer...

well i guess i will be different here and say go with the eclipse. my alum is handling 1200 watts and sounds great. i have not heard any complaints on my end about this sub. the TI's are great, i just haven't had the time or the money to snatch them up.
