I recently bought an 09 Altima and the Nissan dealership put in the Eclipse AVN726E when I asked for GPS with ipod compatibility. I have an 80GB ipod video (5th gen, I believe) that is hooked into the back. I don't know which cable the installers used.
Here's my problem. The 726E has no trouble reading the individual track data while the ipod is playing. If I hit Menu > Artists to sort through my library, it just comes up with a blank screen showing only the scroll bar and the return button. For the first month or so I could retry calling up the artist list and it may have worked after a handful of tries, but not always. Now it shows that blank screen every time. Kind of defeats the purpose of having the integrated ipod controls if I can't sort through my 72GB of music without pulling out the ipod and trying to navigate tracks without driving off the road. It also makes me want to switch back to the Alpine deck I had in my Xterra, the ipod functionality was off the charts but no GPS. Plus I'd be wasting the obnoxious amount of money the dealership charged me to put it in.
Has anyone seen this or a similar failure before? Is there a firmware update perhaps? Maybe this is a common failure in the deck or cable? Any insight is appreciated because if I don't drive into a ditch trying to pick out some music I'm going to do it in sheer frustration. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Thanks.
