Eclipse AVN6600 vs. Pioneer AVIC-Z1

I would like to hear the pro's and con's you guys may have about these HU's. I have heard (but haven't confirmed) a 20 second bootup period on the Z1, is this true?

Anything you may want to add as I am currently leaning towards picking up the Pioneer.

You can always price match to Cardomain for that Eclipse unit.

I've looked at the AVN product line a little, nice, but I wouldn't really feel comfortable comparing the two.

Their is a lengthy boot up time on the Avic-Z1 but if you are already listening to a song (from the last time you played the unit) then you can change tracks and listen within a few seconds and not wait for the unit to fully boot up.

I have a review of it in the review section if you want more of my opinion on this unit.

The Z1 is not really in the same class as the 6600 because it has the hard drive. But if you are looking at these two specifically then I would probably go with the Z1. The 6600 is easy to use, install, and performs well. It does lack some things I would like to see such as time alignment and voice recognition. I think the Z1 has more potential for upgrade and audio tweaking. The Avn7000 is actually the one Eclipse intended for fully audio features but only if you get the optional accessorie which adds more $$.

I have the 6600, and really enjoy it. I was looking at both units, and while it would be nice to have the harddrive nav in the Z1, the voice recognition seemed shady at the store, the bypass is more difficult (if interested), and I thought the 6600 sounded better.

My understanding is you ground a wire and your done, no voiding warranty issues but I could be wrong.

z1 bypass does not void warranty either. it is not the same as the N's and D's. go to the link i posted and read hacks
