Eclipse and Circuit City....

where have I been. I just saw a huge advertisement in the CC ad today of all their Eclipse stuff. I was shoked. I never expected CC to have Eclipse. Is this recently new or am I just way late on this one? also can they get the whole lineup or just a limited amount of models?

Alpine dropped CC, they needed a new higher end line. Eclipse went mainstream and ramped up production and updated looks for the masses "bad choice" as well as alpine. Best buy is a powerhouse compared to CC in sales so they also ramped up production, the sad effect is in mass production quality is lower, the mighty doller shows it's head and features are dropped. Eclipse did not drop features but they dropped looks and build quality IMO which counts for nothing. Alpine kept the looks but dropped features.

The new eclipse 7000 looks NICE

yeah, eclipse is still the sweetness

Well, these decks were essentially realesed last year around CES time frame, minus the CD7000/CD1000. And I'm sure that these were in R&D for a good deal of time before then, becuase noboby builds a deck from the ground up in a little over a year. My point is, nobody complained about these units a year ago, so why should we worry now? The only one I am concerned with is the CD1000 a.k.a. rebadged JVC.

Eclipse has been refocusing their efforts for some time now, beginning with the first AVN a couple of years ago and the cosmetic facelift of their headunits. Heck they even changed their llogo and ook to accomadate this new philosophy.

circuit city carries anywhere from their CD100 to CD500 series i believe, all the way up to the higher avn series which goes for around $2500. CCity just came to a mutual agreement with Infinity that it wasnt working out so they were dropped. And CCity actually dropped alpine because alpine wasnt letting CCity carry their FULL lineup like the Type X and some of the higer end comps and amps.

I thought Alpine dropped CC because they were giving free installs on Alpine headunits???

Why worry about who dropped who. The fact of the matter is that 90 percent is rumors, while 10 percent contain truth. We will never know why alpine left or exactly how much of eclipse was changed just for this purpose. The only thing that we do know, is that alpine is at best buy and eclipse is now at CC. Either buy them or look elswhere.

Not what I heard.

Not what I'd believe, either.

Shyne151 was correct in some sense.

CC actually dropped Alpine because they refused to be sold online.

and CC does a LOT more business then BB in the car audio sales/install department.

I don't believe this crap that Infinity and CC came to agreement to go their own ways, but that is what employees @ CC were told and that's probably all we'll ever know.
