Eclipse 8053 advice needed

So I just bought this used for a good price, I am upgrading from an Eclipse 3424. Everything about the 8053 is great except for one thing. The radio reception is awful, as in it seems like the antenna is unplugged. But it isn't, I checked already. Has anyone experienced this problem? My old 3424 had great reception, and I can't believe a deck this nice would be so much worse. I'm just wondering if it's something that can be fixed, or if I'm just going to have to live with it for now. My car is a 2002 Impreza, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

I get great reception out of mine. Are you sure that it is hooked up? maybe the plug is bad.

could be loose connection. i had to use an adapter cause my oem antenna was smaller then the one for the eclipse deck, so i had to make it bigger
So you're saying you enlarged the antenna receptacle on the deck? Did you just stretch it out with something? I should be able to just to squeeze it back down then, right?

the antenna plug in the car was smaller then the antenna input on the deck, so an adapter was needed. if that is the case, the antenna will probably still fit in, but will be loose cause it's too small

So how would I make it smaller again? There's that hard plastic sleeve around the antenna cable, so I don't think I can just squeeze it with pliers. Any ideas?
