Earbleeding bass

i totally agree with you about the shockers being loud as hell and a daily driver, while the rfl is competition only. alls im saying is i would like to see a pair of shocker 15's go up against a pair of rfl 15s in a drag contest //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I know people older than you who run spl only setups in their daily driver... I know i didn't get into this hobby cause I heard a decent SQ sub putting out accurate bass....at the time i couldn't have appreciated an sq setup if i tried. To properly appreciate an SQ setup, you have to develop an ear for staging and actually know what you're looking for. it certainly doesn't just jump up and slap you in the face like sound pressure does. i got in here because i liked feeling my guts get all warm and jelly-like from massive amounts of sound pressure. It's not an age thing, it's a simple personal preference......and if you'd be honest with us and yourself, i bet that when you first got interested in audio, spl is what hooked you too!

i changed to SQ because SPL hurted my ear:D j/k..

if you have a big box...Cerwin Vega Stroker...especially the 15" and 18". those will get loud with very little power.. i remembered someone hitting 149dB with only 200 watts RMS to his 18" stroker. so that 96db 1w/1m sensitivity actually is kinda true...:p

to me, that does seem a little far out...even if it was ported to it's maximum performace, 200 watts just seems...odd

ill bet on it u put a pair of extreme 2s against some rfls and the rfls get beat up like they were some 10s........ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and considering that the extreme2s are still half the price of the rfls....hahaa

I bet Rangerman has something to say about this one
Well, technically there is a guy on Shocker Audio's forum (which I cannot find now) that SAYS he is doing 145+ with a Shocker Extreme and a 250 watt Jensen amp...I have never witnessed this though and doubt I ever will.

My suggestion is the RE XXX.

hey..anything can happen if you get the install right. cerwin vega stroker subs are **** efficient. with it's 18" cone, it can displace a lot of air which is good for SPL as you all know. maybe the CV stroker was in a wall... hell..no one believe when nathan munson hitted 169.x dB with a single 10" and with only 5000 watts RMS.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

Sorry for the late reply. Ok, well im going to take yall advice and get the Shocker III. I want two 12s, so that should run me about 500. I think i will run these Shockers on an Orion XTRPRO 2400. Does that sound decent? Or is there a better amp to push these subs. As i said before, any help is appreciated. do i need to build the box myself or can i just go to Bestbuy and buy a dual 12box? Oh yea and i am 17 years old, how did u guess?

That is a huge amp. I'm sure you won't have a problem running those subs with that amp. And you or someone else will have to build the box. As many people here will agree with me, there is no way that a box from best buy could handle 2 shockers.

you can typically guess the age of a person by their general likes of audio systems. take me for instance i wanted 155db plus but now i'm going to settle for a low 150's heheh. gotta hvave the SQ though so i'm going to run some e12a's if i can sell my **** DD's.

adam

I have never heard any shocker subs.. how do they fair with DD's? Like, the 18" shocker vs. the DD 9917 beast.. same type of setup.. which do you think would be louder??

Bumpin_Blazer.. what series DD's are you looking to sell?
