i have a **** truck, and im limited to either beefy 8 inch subs or small *** 10 inch subs. i should have bought an escalade, i already know!!! taking into consideration that the sundown subs are easier to find and a lot cheaper, which would you run? i have a sundown 1500d and i have less than 2.5 cubes to work with. i almost thought about trying the new "thinner" 1510 also. Would you run 3 8 inch e8's ported or two 1508's ported? i know everyone on this site loves both subs, and i am sure that other people have been faced with this dilemma. take into account that the e8's need less space ported, but they also handle less power. thanks fellas!

I was giving my Sundowns 850w RMS (1700w RMS to the pair) so they can take power. Id say a reliable 500w rms for the e8 if you know how to tune.

I have also ran a DD1508. The DD hit the lows better but the E8 had a better range.

i didnt think that anyone would choose the e8!! im glad you did though! the e8's would match both of my amp nicely!! all jacob needs to do know is make mids and high and then i can become a part of team sundown!!!

two on 1700w RMS in a little over 1 cu ft to 33hz. They will do nicely.

i already seen both of those on youtube!! i love that website!! right now im running four 10w6's in less than 2 cubic feet!!! it sounds like shit!! thats why im going down to two subs and running ported instead of sealed. i love sundown equipment!

i vote for the 1508. i just swaped one out for a 2510 but that 1508 is the loudest 8 ive ever tried or herd and it has good sq in about 1cuft.
Have you heard a E8? I ran 2 and it was just as loud if not louder then the 1508. Even though it is 2 v 1 the Sundown needs less airspace and cost 1/3 of the DD. I loved the DD (its why its great to have friends like Phatphil's) but the Sundown kept up great.

Indeed... tough to compare them directly due to the huge price difference //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You an run 2-3 E8s for the cost of a single DD 1508.

We also specifically made the E8 shallow so the 1508 obviously has more room for mechanical movement, a larger motor, and a longer coil - so one on one should have higher peak SPL output.

Is this a depth problem? If so you could look at the SI Mag V4, only 5.5" deep and only needs 4.5" of mounting depth. It also only needs 1 cube sealed. It should have smoother output than either the E8 or 1508 since it is in a sealed box, and it was designed from the ground up to be an SQ sub, so it should sound better too.
