dynamat - oh sh*t

I dynamated the car and everything was fine....but i ran out of dynamat and went to HomeDepot and bought that cheap dynamat like roofing/gutter repair (aluminum & tar on back just like Dynamat) to do the trunk.

The real dynamat in the car is fine but the trunk with this cheap roofing/gutter repair stuff smells like there is no tomorrow. **** it smells after a week. Fortunately it's the trunk and I don't smell it in unless I open the trunk...

well as a fellow Houstonian i say tear that crap out and go get the real sh*t

cuz that stuff will only smell worse when we get our heat here shortly!!!!!!

A guy on this forum, ifandorbuts, sells his own sound dampener. Supposed to be as good as dynamat at a hella cheaper price. I also heard that it doesn't smell nearly as bad as some other brands. He gives good prices to forum members too. PM (private message) him for more details.

rip off as much as you can get the puddy knifes out and some tar remover

cuz when the heat and hummidity gets here your gonna think something died in there and that will prob be hell to get the smell out of the inside of the car

I know, but if you want the sound dampening still i just suggested his product because it doesn't smell nearly as bad as other products. Plus the smell will go away. Also, to try to get the goo off try using paint thinner and a brillo bad/metal brush.

Thank God...cuz i tried to pull them out..they won't move...those peel & seal sticks like there is no tomorrow...i guess I'll have to leave them tehre and let nature ride its course and hopefully the smell will go away soon. Yeah dude, I would sudgest opening your trunk, preferably with the sun shining in on it and put a fan pointing in there, it'll air it out. That's how I did with my stuff. However I used the shitty http://www.sounddeadeningmaterial.com stuff and it stank worse than Peal & Seal.

the smell will go awy.

you need to leave your trunk and windows open for about a week. everytime you park your car, keep it open. even open the doors. aftera bout a week the smell will go away.

but, once it summer hits it will heat up and release fumes. then you have to keep your windows down again.

thats one of the problems with the cheap roofing products. they were not designed to be used close to the human nose.
