Dumb question

OK I want to know if metal touches the battery connector or any connector on an amp will it damage it? Back when I had my Viper I was messing around with it (being stupid)and I touched the black spade connector from the wiring kit to the + connector on the amp and it sparked. Absolutely nothing was hooked up though. Once I hooked up the amp it only worked once and it got really hot really fast at 2 ohms and it evenutally started blowing the fuse under the hood everytime it was turned on. I was told the amp was fried so I'm sure it's because of what I did. I have my new amp now and there was a razor by it and I'm not sure if it touched anything but could it somehow make this amp fry like the other one?

I am thinking you had your subs wired wrong or the amp couldnt handle the 2ohm load what kind of amp was it. Odds are the spark just blew a fuse. It could of damaged the amp but not as likely as it would of just blew a fuse.

Id agree with that assesment. Check how the subs are wired. The worst thing that could have happened is you could have melted a part of the amp and its now shorting out.

It was a Viper d1200.1 and a TS-W2000SPL. I don't have either anymore but I was still curious as to what went wrong. Also I really wanted to know how I made the amp spark when there was nothing hooked up.
