Dumb (?) Question about Pre-outs Vs. Speaker Level outs.

I have a Clarion unit with 4 amped (speaker level) channels and 4 RCA (PRE-AMP) channels.

Can I use both sets, feeding the RCA putputs to a powered sub and the the other speaker outs for

F-LR/R-LR? I had a 5 channel Kicker amp that could use only one set or the other, hence my question.

The install and user manuals for The head unit do not address this question.

Thanks for any help

If you have access to preouts, only use them. high level inputs are terrible compared to preouts.

If you are trying to keep your Fade ability in place with front and rear, (i'm assuming the preouts are only front and rear out?), then just use both sets and Y split the Rear out to your sub amplifier.

Or get a crossover and control everything from there.

I'm sure it would work fine with what you are asking but is a pain in the ***.

The pre-outs are also 4 channel. Front-RL and Rear-RL.

I guess my question is can I work a source for a sub if I went to an amplifier for the 4 channel system. Maybe a 4.1 or a 6 channel? But then how do I hook that up to a 4 channel RCA output head unit? The sub I am looking at has only speaker level hookups. That is why I was wondering if I could use the RCA outs for the speakers and the speaker level outs for the sub.

My guess is, no, speaker level outputs and RCA outputs cannot be used at the same time.
