Hey, I currently run 4ga to my trunk, into a 2 8gauge output distro block into two amps.

I have a Kicker x2i crossover I want to add, but since I have a 2 output distro and REALLY don't want to have to buy a 3-output distro, I was wondering if I could just hook a 18ga wire to the weaker amp output for its power source. It doesn't use much power obviously since the hookups are tiny :p

My electrical theory is obviously pretty weak to even be asking this question, and my gut tells me that the current will pull evenly to the 18ga wire and the 8ga wire if they are in the same output port, and obviously the fuse rating of the 18ga wire is much lower and I'd have myself a nice flaming wire.

Just thought I'd ask in case I can get away with this without buying another distro //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You can, fuse the smaller wire for the crossover. And it might look a little ghetto //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hrmm....I would do it, but the idea that I'm unclear on is whether 2 wires will always get equal amounts of the same current or if they only receive current proportional to "what the device wants" that its connected to.....

If so there would be no way I could fuse the wire safely and still have it not blow...

And yeah its an active crossover, it needs power and thats what it has to do with this :p

huh ? The crossover will only pull the current it needs, as will the amps. The distribution block is just that distribution. 12v in 12v out . No matter what is connected //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Does your ac pull the same current as a turn signal ? They are coming from the same source. both get different amounts of current. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ahh dont confuse him both use diffrent amounts of current.

Its kind like in your house. You most likely have 200amp or 100amp available but at any givin time your probably on using like 60 tops. Unless your running some major a/c units, then you'd be using more.

You have roughly 50 liters total, which will probably work with that sub.

So im getting the design together for the 2 12's for the truck. Its back from the transmission shop and the burnouts are nice.... so we can get...
