dumb dumb dumb question, but...

They *should* last well longer than that. Im not trying to say you need to replace your subs every few years (unless you heavily abuse them, then it would be a good idea), Im just saying speakers having moving parts that will wear out over time. Even the generally more durable car audio speakers, they will last longer Im sure, but all mechanical moving parts will fail given enough time and/or stress.

for instance i always get better scores with a fresh recone than a well beat 1,the difference is the new spiders is tight and gives a tighter suspension,like with anything speakers wear out just like any other mechanically moving object.

Guys, subs are just elastomers, fabric, and copper....all of them are. Glues get old and outgas, making them brittle, heat from the coils break down the glues... unfortunately there is no average lifetime......just lack of abuse to the point you've purchased them (if used).
