dual voice COIL subs.....4ohms Vs 2ohms

i HAVE 2 dual voice coil subs with a 2ohm stable amp

the subs are dual 4ohms.............the people that installed them told me they have it configured to a 2ohm load but when i search online all the diagrams and sites say you can only creat a 1 ohm or 4ohm load with two dual 4ohm coils

is this true or can a 2ohm load be created?

You got it right if they are dual 4 ohms you could get a 1 ohm, a 4 ohm or a 16 ohm, although I don't know why you'd want to. Are they running one sub off each side of a 2ch. amp @ 2ohms maybe?

the only way you'd be able to get them to do 2ohms each is to give them their own channel form the amp. maybe they gave you svc 4ohm subs...or only hooked up one sub for ya...lol. your only options are 1ohm and 4ohm.

the subs handle 400 watts rms..............and they get real loud and sound great so im assuming they are getting the 350 watts as opposed to the 175 it would be in a 4ohm load

Well the only way to wire the things up that would work for the amp are 4 ohms bridged (most likely) or two ohms stereo. You get the same power either way but with the bridged setup you don't have to worry about cancellation between the subs.

well, it would make most sence that they are on their own channel...so they are running at 2ohm....

if your subs are dvc 4 ohm..and they are each wired into 2 ohms a piece..they would each see 2 ohms in stereo. if they were bridged to the same channel the amp would be a combined 1 ohm load..

your subs are wired to 4 ohms and bridged on the amp, that = 700 watts.

that's like only playin with one ***** and not the other!!

you will cause damage to the sub if only using one. if you want to do this, then get a svc sub(s).
