i want to go to 0 gauge for my mtx 1501d but i dont have 60 bucks to drop on some wire right now....and i found a deal on more 4 awg (thats what i have now) and i was thinking about running dual 4 gauge for everything.....i'd have to make sure i do it under the hood and on the big 3....but it should work out just fine....

i realize that it wont be AS good as 0awg but it will help right?

also...what kind of fuse should i get for the mtx 1501d when modded and running at 1 ohm....? 100 amps, 120amps, 150amps??

Dual 4gauge will be fine.

That amp should have a PEAK current draw of 150 amps and a NOMINAL draw around 75 amps, I would use a 60 amp fuse for EACH 4 gauge line to give 120 amps of allowable current (the 150 peak will not blow the fuses as it is too quick to burn the fuse, the nominal current is what will burn the fuse plus 4 guage wire has about 60 amps of thermal current capacity over long runs.)

more like 120A...

dual 120A fuses is what id do.

A long length of 4 gauge is rated for 60 to 105amps before thermal problems start setting in.Measure the length of wire and refer to the chart for maximum fuse size.

Nominal current equals about half of peak and like RMS, is the one you want to pay attention to. The Peak draw for the 1501 is 150amps as shown in the user manual, the two 60 amp fuses will handle the nominal current draw and offer thermal protection for the wire.

??? up to 13 feet it appears the 4 gauge is good for 150A and up to 19 ft its good for 125A

most cars arent going to need a 19+ foot run of wire to reach the back/distro block.
