Hello CA, hows it going. Well long story short, my friends are eating away at me ordering sub boxes from me left and right. Here is my most recent one i am working on for my buddies truck. It will hold either 2 older Kenwood 10s or some of the new Kicker 10s. Enjoy!

why are you using particle board //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

stuff soaks up water like no tomorrow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Question: How in the world is the port length calculated on a fiberglass enclosure?

I would imagine its pretty easy to be off on tuning frequency when you don't have any specific dimensions from which to calculate the enclosure volume.

Fill the enclosure with small beads of foam, or something like that.

Pour the beads into a container of known volume.

Voila, there's your volume.

Unless he is using it in a boat, I think he will be alright, lol!

guesstimate and then double check with the method quoted bellow VVV

yup

Uhh....Add bass to a trunk and voila you have a leaky trunk.I have seen it many times, espeially in trunks. They leak, the box soaks up the water and its toast.

Partical board is just a way to cut cost. Not my thing but if its all you can get and no one complains who cares.

But yes Req was right its like a big sponge, not as compacted as MDF.

yes that is true, im also not trying to argue, but this is going in a TRUCK not a TRUNK

The last box I built was out of particle board, and it held up just fine for over 3 years in the trunk of my car. Granted it wasn't a power house 2 12" Infinity subs off 300w each so it wasn't gonna bust the trunk apart. I am wondering what will happen when the resin hits it though seeing it soaks up water. Either way the wood working for the box sure does look good though. Looking forward to the next stages of the build.

^^ you had to spoil everyones fun of thinking that it is going to soak up water:(
Well someone is likely to come in here in the future and argue his 2 cents so lets see what happens... Maybe i will fill the enclosure with water to see if the makes the bass hit harder................
