DSC4125 or DSC480?

In my '97 Chevy extended cab I am currently running a pair of Alpine SPS-600 speakers in my front doors off my HU. My plan is to add a single 10" Alpine Type-S sub under my rear seat in a downfiring sealed enclosure. I have been looking at several amps to power all this and really like the MB Quart DSC4125.

I'm concerned about overpowering the speakers (80W RMS) and the subs (300W RMS). Should I go with something like the DSC480 instead to be safe or will the DSC4125 be fine?

I'd go with the DSC4125; The extra power won't kill your speakers - just remember to set the high pass filter for your SPS-600's to around 80hz, and the lowpass for your sub to around 80hz, and you will be good to go.

and where do you plan to find those amps? im pretty sure those models are all pretty much sold out everywhere. id recommend the crescendo 1000c4 it cost more but it still a good price

There are several for sale on caraudioclassifieds.org for $150. I believe one is still NIB. I'm not afraid of buying a used one, either.

id get the dsc480 due to the fact the dsc4125 can oly be found for 200 and at that price id also buy the crescendo for 20 more
The Crescendo is $240 and the dsc4125 is still available for $180. The Crescendo is a nicer amp in my opinion, but $60 might be important to this guy...

My concern is not where to find them or how much they cost, just whether I will damage either the speakers and/or the sub since the power ratings of the amp exceed those of the speakers and sub.

As I said; Headroom is always good. Get the 4125.

Just use some common sense when setting the gains...

I think I was typing the same time you posted. Either that or I just missed what you said. Wasn't trying to ignore your post though. Thank you for the input, it's been very helpful.

Another question, would the DSC480 be able to power the sub sufficiently? Supposedly it puts out 320W RMS if I bridge the rear channels, but I'm not sure how much it actually does. If it will power a Type S sufficiently, I may just go with that since they can be had for $113 new. I assume they are comparable in quality to the 4125, just less powerful.
