i dont know...im not starting to cut until like april (i dont finish school for summer until memorial day)...so i havent looked into shedding the pounds yet im still trying to pack em on

Alcohol is one of the worst things you can put into your body as far as building muscle and losing fat go. It can dramatically lower free testosterone levels which will severly hinder your muscle gain/fat loss and raises estrogen/ cortisol. Also alcohol is just empty calories. No protien and a few simple carbohydrates is all your body gets out of alcohol. Those are only a few bad side effects, not even mentioning dehydration, liver damage, etc. Alcohol is a definate no no if your serious about getting into shape, etc. And yes some people do have very good genes where they can see gains and still booze every night, but 9 out of 10 people arent like that.

Eat 2500 calories a day and run 2mi each day. After two weeks try 3 miles. Every time you increase 1 mile add 200-500 extra calories. Drink a lot of water. A gallon a day will do it in the winter, as it starts to warm up you will need to drink more. Water and calorie intake depend on your bodyweight so look up some charts on the internet. 2500 is about what I get. In season on long distance training days I eat as much as 4500 calories and I still weigh about 140lbs.

No lie, in season when it is 105+ Degree heat index I will drink over a gallon of water in a 2.5hr practice. 15 people on our team will empty three 5gal coolers every practice. Hydration is vitally important. Eat a lot of food with eletrolytes (salt, potasium, etc...) or drink gatoraid with meals instead of soda or w/e. In fact cut out soda entirely. It may be a superstition and i maybe a subject of the placebo effect but carbonated drinks make me slower.

One more thing. CAFFIENE! Tea and coffe are your friend. It has been time tested that a cup of coffe will help you run faster and further, even after any noticable effects of caffiene have worn off.

Carbohydrates and protiene are your friend as well. No Adkins diet for runners. Only Fat lazy people who want to get skinny use the adkins diet.

Weight Lifting burns a TON more calories than cardio. I also hate running and some good alternatives are boxing( 10 minutes of intense punching on a heavy bag will kick your *** if youve never done it), also try HIIT( high intensity interval training). Basically you do a 30 second balls to the wall sprint, then 30-45 second jog. You definately wont be able to do 45 minutes of this if you do it correctly, but start out with 10-15 minutes and add a minute or 2 each time you do it. Its the same principle as doing wind sprints only you dont stop between sprints. This will burn a ton of calories and the short time you work for doesnt eat away at your muscle like running 3 miles at a slow pace will.
