Drilling thru firewall

If I don't find a convenient place to pass power thru the firewall of a 2001 Nissan Altima - what should I be aware of when drilling a hole? Obviously I'll try not to hit anything vital - any tips for that? Presumably I come thru from the cabin side, as I don't think I can fit a drill anywhere in the engine bay.

Would Home Depot/Lowe's be the place to go for a grommet?

You'll be able to find one. Just have to pry up the carpet. Should be many.

I got 2 0 gauge runs thru my firewall and just filled in with automotive puddy

Look to the left of the brake pedeal under the carpet/pad. Should be a few factory holes with plugs there.

You can google it to find out where others are running power. To left of the brake pedal up high is where it runs in my 2011 altima
