Dr.Crankenstein???

I have a 12" Crankenstein in my mustang right now...2.3 cuft ported box. Fairly loud and it has taken the abuse for the last 6 years or so. Poor thing just won't die. It's alright but nothing spectacular. You should do alright with 2 10's.

200 RMS by the way. They can handle it and a little more.

Shawn...

I think it is actually Dr. Krankenstein and they use to carry those at Wal-Mart. In my honest opinion they have the coolest name in car stereo and some of the worst products. Next to sony of course.
Okay.....I must say...I hate Sony as a company...the only products I like of theirs is Playstation and their digital camcorders.....however...there is one other exception.

The Sony XM-3001SXD....has to be one of the best dollar/watt amps out there. I have been running an Orion HCCA 12D2 into 1 Ohm from this amp for almost two years with no problems....it cost no more than 200 dollars and according to an old AS&S review it puts out these numbers generated playing music and not test tones:

Rated 300 RMS 4 Ohm - Tested 462.25

Rated 600 RMS 2 Ohm - Tested 838.86

Rated 1000 RMS 1 Ohm - Not tested but my guess about 1200-1300

Don't forget that this amp was under $300...and under $200 with a PSP at Best Buy since I worked there.

Aside from these pieces SONY SUCKS!

READ DUDE, its a Phoenix Gold product, last I checked WalMart didnt stock PG, Christ.
I know that this is an old thread, but what an f'n moron. Doesn't know the difference between Dr. Crankenstein and Frank-Amp'n-Stein. One was a company that made amps and subs, the other was a limited edition amp made by Pheonix gold by putting two of their great amps in a single heatsink.

I do remember about 6 years ago Walmart had a stockpile of Dr. Crankenstein 6x9's they were selling for a crazy price.. I'm pretty sure it was $10 a set.

Ok.. I'm done posting in old a$$ threads.

A friend who owns a b&m shop has frank and son still in the coffin looking crates with the straw in the bottom. He even has the neck bolts still I believe. He had them in his car for about three years. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i was in ashland ky today where crankenstein was started and seen a billboard for dr. crankenstein... i think they are coming back....just a plain black billboard with the dr. crankenstein logo.. i took a pic with my cell i couldnt believe it.. they have been gone for years then all of a sudden there is a huge billboard for them

It's not a Phoenix Gold product, and it also wasn't ever carried by WalMart.
If there was a "Dr. Krankenstein", that sounds like the same flea-market mentality that brings us such famous name rip-offs as:

Xplor

Rockwood

Kenford

and more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Dr. Crankenstein was a brand that existed in the eighties, right through much of the nineties... but you saw fewer and fewer ads for them in magazines in the mid 90's and later... probably a sign that they were headed downhill financially.

For all I really know, they may still have product today - they simply may have shrunk right out of view. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/chicken.gif.218ea7401db50d5e31a7e0b37e05e21e.gif
thats funny because i bought a Doc Crankenstein 12" sub in a bandpass box with plexi at walmart in 1996.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
