Down firing in a trunk

Can these enclosures work well in trunk cars? Would they be like the exact opposite of facing the sub up? What is the real purpose of these kinds of enclosures?

Wow, no one has an answer? I know they work in Wranglers and the like but I was just wondering about cars

I would say the purpose of them is to protect the sub(s) from getting damaged and/or hide the subwoofer to make it more stealthy...and I wouldnt see why they would do ok in a trunk, it shouldnt be horrible
