Double din to single din

Hi, I was just wondering where I could find information on how to turn a double din cd player into a single din. I have a 2008 nissan Exterra. I am wondering because double din cd players are highly priced compared to that of a single din, therefore I would rather convert to a single din and have that little extra space under the cd player for, let say, the remote control.
