Double din fit?

I have a 2001 MBenz C320 (w203) I want to buy and install a double din dvd/nav system into the car. The radio has what looks like a double din socket, with one exception. The radio is at the top of the opening while the lower portion is a storage compartment for like a phone or sunglass. Both the lower and upper portion are the same size from what i can tell and rember, long story. Either way i was wondering if any one has installed or knows anyone that has installed a double din deck in this car? was is straight foward any mods any problems they ran into. To answer the burning question of why dont i just measure it or take the radio out, becuase I'm currently deployed in Iraq and my car is back in chicago and I'm stationed in AK, so i havn't had the chance to work or drive my car for 2.5 yrs now, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif thx for any help guys

Don't trust Crutchfield they don't show a double din HU to fit in my car but I have one.

Ya, i should have said i checked cruthfield and they said it wont fit. I still think it will fit i guess there only one way to find out, thx guys
