Double Din Dilemma

I have a Pioneer FH-P5000MP which is a special fit double-din cd/tape player. I need it installed in a '99 Ford Explorer XLT... I took it to a local shop and dude said he couldn't do it without the mounting bracket.. apparently I don't have the sleeve. Well, and you can look for your self, Pioneer doesn't have a metal sleeve for it... so I looked at the Installation manual and it says, "Fastening the unit to the factory radio mounting bracket."

What is this factory radio mounting bracket? How do I get this ***** installed?!?!

If the oem ( haven't seen an explorer lately ) is double din. You have to remove the metal mounting brackets from the sides of the oem head unit itself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I just checked the OEM HU and there were no brackets on it :/

That should work, but you wont be able to use the front face panel..
