Doing well in law school so far

Oh no! Not another lawyer?! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
Well, make sure you head to Nashville and get a job at that prestigious law firm like Tom Cruise did. But check out the house they give you for bugs and stuff...
Nashville? Tom Cruise is a lawyer here?

Eh fVck it, if you have to tell someone not to make a thread about good grades in law school then it is almost certain they will never be a good lawyer. That is not to say that you can't hide out in some 100 man law firm and make a decent living, but you will never be worth a shit as a real lawyer.
/thread.
I can't agree more. A students= judges, B students= prosecutors, c students=defense attorneys. I've learned 100x more working one day in a law office than I have in school thus far.

i have no idea what kind of law I want to practice, all I want to do at this point is maximize the amounts of options I can choose from.

They can help you get into better graduate schools, internships, co-ops.
this is grad school i am talking about, not college. College grades only matter to get you into grad schools, but law school grades seem to matter a huge amount for getting your first job at least. In the long run I know it probably won't matter where I went to school or what my grades were, but getting a good first job definately doesn't seem like it would hurt.

I don't know why grades matter so much in law school because they seem very arbitrary, but they do. If I can get my rank down to top 15%, I could be competive as a transfer student at top 30 schools (Boston U and BC verified this for me). Not that I would transfer, but grades basically mean everythign here, at least for first year.

I am in grad school as well.

Grades do not matter, pubs do.

Just try not to be a goober who runs around all the time talking about grades, summer jobs etc. That is going to get you nowhere fast. Be cool -- like Fonzie.

Your idea is right...better opportunities for certain kinds of law right out of school with a nice high GPA. But as stated previously, one simple connection erases that need for a high GPA.

law school is not the same at all as grad schools. At my school, a lot of people land the high paying jobs in the fall on campus interview program, and i think you need to be top 25 or top 20% to go to it, and then each firm has a grade cutoff. So your rank can literally allow you to make 100K more than you would be making with average or subpar grades.
