So i was talking to someone about how they blew their amp (Jbl 1200.1) with a 12w6, and this is how it went.
Me: How did you have this amp hooked up to a 12w6 without
blowing it? [i meant blowing the sub] That subs rms is only 300-400 depending on
the model, and this is a 1200 watt amp.
Him: The sub claims to have that RMS, but it is grossly underrated. With that particualr sub you have a better chance of blowing it if you have less than 1000 watts running to it. This is the brand new 12W6v2 of course, not the old 12w6. The new one looks and sounds like a W7. Instead of the amp blowing the sub, the sub was the reason for the amps failure.
How would someone come to this conclusion?
