My friend and i are trying to make a box for his car. He has a single hdc3 18 going to be ran off a cab1600 in the back of a 03 Passat. I found this website called re audio and I got a box design but not to sure if I can trust it so this is where I need your help.

With a space of 35x35x15 the dimensions it gave me was top and bottom plate was 35x35, left plate 34.25x13.5x34.25x13.6, right plate 33.5x13.5x33.5x13.5, back plate 35x13.5, front plate 27.25x13.5, port L1, 26.5x13.5x26.5x13.5 and tuned 28hz. So after displacement will the be tuned higher???

Over 300 square inches port area? And why tune so low?

i think i'm just to lazy to read it 5 times are u saying port is like 13.5hx26.5wide or long.. list it as 13.5h then width then length i'll check it later

Yes the port is straight
alright best i can guess based on hodge podge of #'s u threw up is : 8.57 cf total, port is 1.45 cf = 7.12 idk what sub disp. is on that 18 so wild guessed it at .25 cf (idk 18's) = 7.12 cf ad.. so if box is 35x35x15 (which is all u had to list instead of 1000 #) and port is 7wx13.5hx26.5l and it's just on 1 side of box (cause i only subtracted wood for that) u would be tuned at 31 hz.. if sub disp is smaller than it's tuned tad lower, if sub disp is bigger it tuned tad higher, if box is smaller than the # i listed it's tuned higher

I use to use their site for cut sheets but I'd usually modify the ports to my specs ..it helped speed things up

Just a heads up, I tried to put an 18 in my VW and it didn't go so well.

There is a reason you don't see many trunk builds with 18s. They are difficult to get right.

Some will say the RE Box Calc isn't really accurate but when I first started out, thats what I used and had pretty good results.

If you can pull it off the good for you booboo

What VW do you have ? I have a sun faded 99 Burple tdi beetle with 5spd ..I keep eyeing that hatch area thinking ..hmmmmm ..but right now the dreaded foam of death is coming through the vents so no heat or AC and I don't have time to rip the dash out and spend two or three days fixing the blend door

You're not going to know until you test with a meter. Typically even carpeting a box as opposed to painting is going to lose a few tenths.
